Will the government legislate for a smartphone ban in schools?

The Government’s tighter guidance on smartphones is welcome, if long overdue, but giving Ofsted the power to inspect policies on phone use is the wrong approach.

Headteachers have repeatedly told me they want legislation to support them introducing a ban. What they need is backing, particularly to convince concerned parents of the benefits of a ban.

They need support from the Government, not additional stress during inspection time.

This week, I highlighted this to the Technology Secretary.
