I welcome the Technology Secretary’s announcement that creating non-consensual intimate images with AI will become a criminal offence this week.
Hours before, Ofcom launched an investigation into X’s AI tool, Grok, which is being used to create sexualised images of women and children.
I decided to leave X last weekend. Under Musk, it has become a cesspit of misogyny and racism. The CEO’s insulting response to the Grok scandal shows this decline won’t slow any time soon.
This situation has exposed how hard it is for the government and regulators to keep up with new technologies that are being used to degrade and abuse women, in particular.
I asked the Technology Secretary what steps she will take to close that gap.
