Watch my question about proposed changes to SEND funding

It is frankly astonishing that the Chancellor spent over an hour speaking during the budget without mentioning arguably the most drastic policy change within it.

But buried deep within the now infamous OBR document was a suggestion that from 2029 the government will absorb the cost of SEND provision.

This is a very interesting development with a very sizable problem at its heart.

According to OBR figures, there is a funding shortfall in the Government’s plan of about £6bn.

Which leaves the question: how can they make up this shortfall without cutting support?

The Government’s response to this question has been abrasive to say the least, but it is only thanks to its poor communication that it is being asked.

SEND children and their families deserve a proper, considered answer, especially after much-needed reforms were pushed back in the autumn.

Today, I asked the Early Education Minister how the Government can fulfil its aim of delivering strengthened SEND support when budgets might be getting cut.
