A brilliant day yesterday in Frome welcoming our new Lib Dem MP Sarah Dyke! The stunts may be cheesy but they get brilliant coverage and all the media seemed to be quite enjoying it - as did we. Sarah overturned a Conservative majority if 19,000 votes, and won with her own majority 11,008 - a truly unexpected and incredible result.
And it couldn’t have happened to a nicer candidate. Well done Sarah, I’m absolutely thrilled for you!
Somerton & Frome showed a 29% swing away from the Conservatives to the Liberal Democrats. We only need a swing of 12% in South Devon to win and if this result is anything to go by, the South West could soon be turning gold again.
