I’ve co-signed a letter calling for the government to listen to the voices of young people as it develops its National Cancer Plan.
Announced last year, the plan aims to develop a long-term strategy for tackling cancer. But the government must realise it can only achieve this by listening to every age group impacted by this terrible disease.
Teenagers and young adults have been consistently overlooked in previous health plans and policies, despite their rates of cancer rising.
Seven young people a day are given the devastating news they have cancer, and this number is expected to rise to 10 by 2030.
It is vital this upcoming plan listens to their unique, often forgotten voices, and that the new National Cancer Plan is designed to support every patient, regardless of their age.
