Watch my speech on residential estate management companies

I was proud to lead a Westminster Hall debate this morning on residential estate management companies.

This is an issue that comes up a lot in my inbox, and looking at the attendance for today’s debate, it’s something many of my colleagues deal with too.

Tales of intimidation, excessive charges, and poor services span the length and breadth of our country, and without government action, I fear we’re facing the next great scandal of our times.

It is way past time management companies were required to act responsibly, treat residents with respect, and provide timely, straightforward, accessible information to all residents.

If homes are sold as offering ‘peace of mind’ they should deliver that; instead, many face the opposite.

Among other things, I called on the government to introduce a timeline for the Leasehold and Commonhold Reform Bill and to bring forward legislation to allow freeholders to challenge management charges.
