𝑩𝒍𝒂𝒎𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒊𝒎𝒎𝒊𝒈𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒕𝒔 𝒐𝒓 𝒃𝒍𝒂𝒎𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒃𝒊𝒍𝒍𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒂𝒊𝒓𝒆𝒔.
Those are the two easy answers thrown out by parties on opposing ends of the political spectrum.
But the sad truth is neither holds the key to sorting the difficult, thorny financial issues our country has faced since 2016.
𝐓𝐞𝐧 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬 𝐚𝐠𝐨, 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐁𝐫𝐞𝐱𝐢𝐭 𝐫𝐞𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐦 𝐫𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐝 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐲 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐨𝐰 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐝𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐲𝐞𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐥.
People are still angry, and the financial hit has been the equivalent of the 2008 financial crash.
The government has said it wants to mend our relationship with the EU, but the scale of ambition leaves a lot to be desired.
Here’s what we want to see...
Immediate negotiations on a bespoke UK/EU customs union which could add up to £25 billion to our economy.
Work to conclude an SPS deal to slash red tape for farmers, fishers and other businesses.
Action to put the UK at the heart of European defence co-operation.
