Watch my speech on boosting broadband and mobile connectivity in South Devon

If I listed all the areas in South Devon that struggle with broadband and mobile connectivity, this post would turn into an essay.

The digital divide in this country is growing, and it’s frankly baffling that we can send people to space but can’t seem to connect rural areas to the internet.

I spoke in a parliamentary debate on this topic last week where I outlined the societal and economic repercussions that stem from poor connectivity.

I’ve uploaded my speech below. There were quite a few other MPs who intervened in my speech, showing how widespread the issue of rural connectivity is.

It’s vital for the Government to understand that digital connectivity is no longer a luxury, it’s a necessity and it’s time to treat rural communities with the same priority as urban areas, otherwise the digital divide is going to continue to widen.
