Watch my question on improving rural mobile coverage

I was pleased to hear the Telecoms Minister confirm today that Ofcom’s mobile availability coverage checker will finally be updated tomorrow. But, as I said in my follow up question to him today, what is the Government doing to boost access to mobile voice and data coverage in rural areas?
Too many people in South Devon are still being cut off by poor digital infrastructure. Some still rely on the 3G network, which is being shut off, making the roll out of better connectivity vital.
This isn’t just a problem of convenience. For older residents, reliable broadband and mobile connectivity is crucial for online GP appointments, personal alarms, and emergency calls. Without it, they are left isolated and vulnerable.
Young people are also being denied equal educational opportunities, while local businesses are missing out on the digital economy.
The digital divide between rural and urban areas is widening, and it’s simply unfair. If remote parts of the UK can access full fibre broadband and mobile signal, there’s no reason South Devon should be left behind.
