Watch my question about the Government's plans to reorganise local government

Today, I asked the Government what steps it’s taking to support local authorities who must deal with the extra costs of delivering services to large, dispersed rural areas like South Devon.

While I’m pleased to hear the government talk about council finances, I’m concerned their current plans don’t account for the unique challenges rural local authorities face.

I’m also concerned that their devolution plans may take powers away and shift it to distant, higher tier authorities who are not always connected to the areas they serve.
