This week, the Education Select Committee and the Work & Pensions Select Committee held a joint session on childhood poverty.

To the expert witnesses, I asked a simple question: how would the lives of disadvantaged children be different if every government department was mandated to look at their policy and decision-making through the lens of lifting them out of poverty?
