Watch my question about improving access to trauma support for survivors of child sexual abuse

Today, the Government announced a doubling in funding for adult survivors of child sexual abuse.

While I welcomed this announcement, I did ask the Minister for Safeguarding and Violence Against Women and Girls what steps the Government was taking to ensure that children who have been victims of child sexual exploitation and grooming can receive timely victim support and trauma informed services.

In my previous role as CEO of Devon Rape Crisis, I saw first-hand the profound impact early access to this support can have for victims.

But many organisations that provide such services have seen their funding slashed in recent years. In fact, Devon Rape Crisis sadly had to close their helpline recently due to a lack of funding.

With the NICs rise pushing already stretched purse strings further, we must ensure these services remain accessible for victims.

You can hear the Minister’s response below.
