Watch my call for the Government to recognise a Palestinian state

Today, I called on the UK Government to recognise a Palestinian state.

This is something hundreds of you have called for, and when you look at the horrors coming out of Gaza, you can understand why.

Throughout this war, the Israeli Government has demonstrated a disregard for civilian life, and it has become increasingly clear that they are aspiring to wipe Palestine off the map.

I appreciate that the Minister said the Government’s focus is on reducing the immediate suffering happening in Gaza. But, as many of my colleagues pointed out, the pressure they have applied thus far have done nothing to persuade Israel to change course.

I have repeatedly called on the UK Government to suspend arms sales to Israel, and I joined a rally outside Parliament calling for this again.

I will continue to do everything I can to call for continued de-escalation, for International Law to be observed, for aid to be allowed safe passage into Gaza, and for an end to the suffering of so many men, women, and children.
