Torbay Council launches new 'More Active, More Often Fund'

Torbay Council has launched a new-look funding stream called the ‘More Active, More Often Fund’, where awards of up to £2,000 are available for organisations committing to support the health and wellbeing of residents.


What you can apply for 


Funds are available for project costs such as:  


  • facility hire 

  • coaching 

  • small purchases of equipment that are needed for programme delivery 


Funds will not support property upgrades or buying an expensive piece of equipment. 


Who Can Apply 


  • Charities, community or not-for-profit groups, health bodies and sports clubs. 

  • You do not need to be a registered charity to apply. 

  • Your club/group needs to be based within the Torbay Council boundaries. 

  • Funding is for projects delivering sports and physical activity recognised by Sport England. 

  • Your club/group must be a member of Sport Torbay. We will need proof of membership. 


Key Information 


  • Awards up to £2,000 are possible. 

  • Applicants can only apply for up to £100 for marketing costs. You will need to clearly demonstrate:  

  • why this support is needed  

  • how the funds will be spent on marketing 

  • Applications focus on new activity that encourage new participants. 

  • Torbay Council cannot award grant funding for expenses that have already been incurred. The funding is available for ‘new’ activity/purchases only. 

  • Repeat funding will not be awarded. Torbay Council can only support clubs/groups/organisations once per funding cycle. 


Award grants are available four times per financial year. Panel reviews will take place in June, September and December 2025, and March 2026. To ensure your application is taken to panel, return applications by:
