The Foreign Secretary confirmed the UK is suspending trade talks with Israel over Gaza - watch his speech and read my reaction

The expansion of Israel's military activity in Gaza, with a view to occupying the entire Strip, is disgraceful. It means more devastation for Palestinians - who have already seen their homes and communities destroyed by 16 months of war - while narrowing the path back to a ceasefire and severely harming the chances of getting the remaining hostages back to Israel alive.

The UK Government has said it is prepared to take 'further concrete action' – and today, the Foreign Secretary detailed some of these measures. You can watch his speech or read it below.

This is a good start. But if they are serious about pressuring the Israeli Government to drawback on this new offensive, Labour must commit now to banning the export of all UK arms to Israel, sanctioning the extremist Ministers Ben-Gvir and Smotrich, and to finally recognise the a state of Palestine - thus signalling the UK's genuine commitment to the Palestinians' right to self-determination.
