Take part in a consultation of electoral democracy

You’ve got until Wednesday to submit to the below consultation on the health of electoral democracy in the UK.

This is a broad consultation, covering everything from foreign political donations to the modernising of elections. What’s missing though is any engagement with a new voting system.

Diminishing voter trust in democratic institutions is a huge concern – and the last election certainly didn’t help, with the government winning 62% of seats with just 34% of the vote.

Disillusion with politics is fuelled when millions of votes don’t translate into representation – we must do something about it.

That is why I want to see a commission launched to bring forward a PR voting system to make votes matter again.
