As many of you will know, I’ve been pushing back hard against the proposed move of out-of-hours coronary care from Torbay to Exeter.
The fact that such a move is even being considered is staggering. In a cardiac event, time is everything, so adding on an extra 45-minutes to an ambulance journey from Brixham or Dartmouth, for instance, is clearly going to put more people in danger.
Yesterday, I presented a petition in the chamber, which urged the Government to ensure that NHS Devon reconsider the proposed relocation and continue to keep out-of-hours coronary care accessible within the local area.
