The Met Office has issued a Yellow weather warning for heavy rain over parts of South Devon until midnight tonight. Heavy rain is also expected to continue tomorrow as well.
The worst of the rain is expected to begin early this evening and extend into the night. If the Met expects properties to flood, they’ll issue Flood Warnings. You can keep up to date with any alerts here: https://check-for-flooding.service.gov.uk/
If you haven’t signed up to receive flood warnings, make sure to do so here: https://www.gov.uk/get-flood-warnings
If you want to talk to someone for general advice at flooding, then you can call the free Floodline service on 0345 988 1188.
And if you need to report an environmental or flood related incident, you can use the 24-hour incident hotline at 0800 80 70 60.
The Met has assured me that they’ve been checking their flood assets in preparation for the rain and have teams on standby ready to respond to river flooding, and to support local authorities in their response to surface water flooding incidents.
If you live in an area prone to flooding, it’s vital to create a flood preparedness plan to ensure you are ready should the worst happen. The Environment Agency has a substantial guide to help you prepare: https://www.gov.uk/prepare-for-flooding
