Pleased to co-sign this letter to the Work and Pensions Secretary highlighting the harmful proposals in the “Pathways to Work” Green Paper.
This consultation is badly designed – asking leading questions and not addressing the concerns of disabled people.
The Government must understand that cutting Personal Independence Payment (PIP) won’t drive people into work but into poverty. These cuts to social security will be devastating for many already in difficult circumstances.
They risk pushing people further into hardship and reliance on food banks, which are already stretched to their limits.
I’ve also written to the Minister for Social Security and Disability expressing my concerns about the consultation.
The government must engage with these concerns and with disabled people to create real, sustainable reform.
