Two big Lib Dem policy wins on free school meals and solar energy for new homes

I couldn’t be more thrilled for my friend and colleague Max Wilkinson after the government confirmed that all new homes will include solar energy by default.

This is something Max was calling for via his Sunshine Bill, which I was proud to support because, as he points out below, it will save money on bills while also helping the planet.

It’s been quite the week for Lib Dem policy wins, with the Government also extending free school meals to all children whose parents are on Universal Credit. Extending this policy was in our manifesto, and it’s something I’ve repeatedly called on the Education Secretary to do.

Let’s hope this momentum continues! I can think of more than a few other policies I’d love to see adopted.
