Opening the new Bowel Research UK Microbiome Garden at Dartington

What a joy to officially open the Bowel Research UK Microbiome Garden - a Gold winner at Chelsea Flower Show, now relocated to the Apricot Centre at Dartington.

The garden aims to raise awareness of Bowel Research UK's research into the importance of the microbiome and explore the link between a healthy landscape, a healthy gut and a healthy mind.

There couldn’t be a better place for this garden than the Apricot Centre - a place where nature and wellbeing go hand in hand.

Well done to designers Chris Hull and Sid Hill for their vision - the charred oak sculpture wall representing the human intestine was inspired.

The garden is an edible meadow, informed by ancient cultures that tended and harvested the local landscape.

It features Camassia quamash, Persicaria bistorta and Lupin luteus - three beautiful plants commonly grown in gardens across the UK, which offer a myriad of gut health and microbiome benefits.

Bowel Research UK supports over 60 research projects and PhDs across the UK to improve the lives of those with bowel cancer and other bowel diseases.
