Breakwater Beach

Caroline and the Brixham Liberal Democrats agree with hundreds of people in the community that the proposed hotel building above the beach is inappropriate overdevelopment at this site.

You can read Caroline's full statement below.

We know the community is against it - we'd love to hear more about what you think so we can build a picture of what Brixham thinks.

Thank you

What do I think?

You’ve asked what I think about the proposed development at Breakwater Beach:

1. I think the proposed build seen in the architect drawings is overdevelopment and not appropriate for this site.

2. We have to protect the beach and its much-loved atmosphere for all those who love it, and use it.

3. More questions need to be asked about the legitimacy of Torbay Council selling off the car park for private development.

4. I’m also concerned this development could ultimately become apartments.

5. While Brixham would benefit from investment and will always welcome new jobs, I don’t believe this is the right investment or the right location.

And I believe you are entitled to know what your elected Conservative councillors think - their role is to represent you.

(As Anna Tolchard is on the planning committee she can't voice an opinion in case a planning application is submitted.)

I support the community in its overwhelming opposition to this development.
